American Maze is a fish-out-of-water road story about two young guys from Jersey City, NJ on the lam from two mob hit men. Our heroes, Rayf and Cal, with absolutely nothing to live on but their wits, hitchhike through America’s turbulent southland during the month of November in the year 1963 — the exact time of JFK’s assassination. In their attempted escape from the long arm of the mob, they inadvertently rediscover America.
Ralph Peduto is an actor, playwright, commercial copywriter — American Maze is his first novel. Mr. Peduto was raised within the ten-square block area of Jersey City affectionately dubbed “The Village” by the first generation Italian-Americans who settled there to create and blend the old and new worlds. This combination could very well account for Mr. Peduto’s unique sense of humor: dark with a sunny streak. He attended Rutgers University and the Announcer Training Studios in Manhattan which resulted in his becoming a DJ, a commercial copywriter and an actor appearing in over forty major motion pictures and television shows. He has written one screenplay, two TV sitcom pilots, four full-length plays, a musical, two one-act plays and an epic poem. He has also recorded a CD of his original songs. Mr. Peduto now resides in a small central California coastal town where he is currently at work adapting several of his plays into novels and screenplays.
